About the work

“I am constantly surprised by small moments of beauty….sun streaming through branches, the incredible textures and patterns of a mushroom, a unique native plant in bloom. There is magic, logic, and intelligence in the smallest corners of nature.

I make collections - my own photographs, sketches, objects, and stored memories. Almost like solving a puzzle, the objects and images come out later to be examined. I’m looking for the magic. Why is it important to make art about these fleeting observations? I hope I’ve collected a glimpse beyond the curtain of the mundane we often find ourselves revolving in.

Through prints, paintings, and drawings I try to embody tiny revelations. It is a way of discovering and sharing new truths about the world. It’s about letting the light in.”

CA holds a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Maine, and a M.Arch. from Rhode Island School of Design. Her work spans drawing, oil on canvas, and several forms of printmaking.
